Technology meltdown

It hasn't been the best weekend for technology and I. There was an incident, things were said, it's over.

The wesbite has been hacked, nobody seems to have a copy of the original to upload, i have learnt some very valuable lessons.

Mainly that if you have an I.T. problem Cityboy1 will dry your tears, and in this day and age not understanding code is just ignorant.

So i am going to build my own site. Yes me. It will have a new web-shop with things to buy that are not flowers, so i will be able to cash in on all the international readers....

The web-shop is already under-construction, the rest of it....not so much. It needs to be a catalogue site, with mainly photographs of flowers and a few words.

Who knows of a good package that lets you do this, even if you are a simpleton? please don't say "i design websites here is my number" I am looking for more of a dictator absolute power approach.

So far i know of Wordpress which seems to be the basis of many other sites, and livebooks.

and in other news, after a strawpoll a very large percentage of my customers have allotments. One is under threat. I have been given permission to make pictures to raise awareness. #beyondexcited.

also i have been hunting and gathering interesting things, coral? small houses, amusingly titled books and the world.

and we ate ribs and stuffed potatos in the garden, by candlelight.

I am sorry, that sounds stressful and messy. I have been looking for a client - ended up with www.mrsite.com or www.moonfruit.com

You do it all Miss P. Really, you can read code?

No i can't read code. I am a simpleton, but starting to realise that waving your hands in the air and saying"i don't understand, it hurts my head" is a bit short-sighted.

I am going to learn, or find a site where you don't need to....

I got a feeling something really, really good is going to come of all this! Watch this space and wait awhile as Miss P works her magic xxx

I built my website using a program called Web Plus. You do not need to read code. Which doesn't mean that it will not involve tears for technophobes, but it can be done. You can also download a simple version of it for free.

I've found weebly.com easy to use and it's free. Good luck (if I can do it anyone can!)

I don't even know what code is. Do you not just type a website? Luckily my specialist area is saving property from other people (...well actually usually I am the one doing the un-saving). Can we get 'save the allotment' t-shirts? I can write some rather snotty letters and be like Julia Roberts in the Pelican Brief. But less wimpy.

I've not commented in ages but here goes:
1. Middle Temple is amazing - I had a wobble the other day about venues after seeing the RCJ but I don't know 400 people.

2. Don't think we didn't notice the dining under the stars reference-details please.

3. London is good. I spend half my life sweating on tubes and the other half mesmerised at how overpriced my gym is. I have a view of grass. The protestors have blocked the entrance to M & S. Dramarama. Next time you are in London I will babysit the Hound.

4. Is there a Christmas wreath class? I have saved holidays just in case (no pressure). I need to learn to make one from Moss I think.

5. When will Matthew and Lady Mary get together? And if that random fake Patrick man doesn't come back, that is the WORST story line ever #DowntonAbbey.

I built my own website (www.asmallgarden.co.uk) at www.justhost.com. If I have a problem I email them and (so far)they have sorted it out quickly.
You don't need to know code.

I too am a simple gal, try bigfolio.com, easy to use, good customer service and if you want something done for you, they can do that too. I do hope you sort out your woes! ;-)

This international reader appreciates the webshop. For the rest, lots of simpathy and all that sort of things.

I am SO sorry that your website problem turned out to be so serious. I too am in the position of screaming I'm going to do it myself!! It's very scarey - where to start and what to do! I trust it will all turn out ok in the end. Be brave and go for it ...

Hi Miss P, Sorry to hear of problems with your website. I myself used Vistaprint when I set up my business (there is a small monthly charge for the service) but it is so easy to use. Almost idiot proof! www.vistaprint.co.uk - you can order all kinds of other things to accompany your banner from mugs (how apt considering another of your posts!) to pens to business cards, etc. Check out www.sarahsvintagewendyhouse.com to see how easy it was to set up a website. Hope everything gets sorted out soon. In the meantime keep up the blogging! Sarah x
