How to: Bud vases

The simplest things are often the most effective.

Fill the vase with water that has had a drop of sterilising solution added to it. This keeps the water clean, bacteria free and prevents that wretched waterline. I use this in all vases.

Flower scissors are worth their weight in gold, even at today's prices. A clean sharp snip, is infinitely better than macerating the end of a rose stem with blunt kitchen scissors from Ikea.

You can use anything, medicine vials, and diet coke bottles are my favourites.

Cluster together, use single flowers, a mixture of Spring flowers, line a dining table or a mantelpiece, or place a single bloom by the bedside.

The how to video is next week, the light was wrong, or i chickened out.....

I chickened out.

Thank for the tip... although I can't get Milton or the likes, here in the States. Is there another thing I could use? Had to giggle at the Ikea scissor comment, as that is exactly what I used to use. Now I use my gardening secateurs. Lx

Not to mention the fact that the florists scissors are perfect for cutting large surgical style cuts in ones fingers xxx

Thanks for the sterilising liq tip - that's genius! Am heading to portobello in the am and will be putting it into practice when I come back with armfuls of something springy. Have a lovely weekend.

Miss P what are the pom pom flowers called? I just adore the vibrancy of Spring dont you? Your lovely Bud vases make my 3 dried up hyacinths in a water glass look very sorry for themselves indeed. I am that girl that mashes up the stems with a bread knife! xxx

I saw those flowers in your window the other day, wonderful! I also saw you had one little board - the ones pupils once used at school. can I ask where you got it from? I looked for one like that but I couldn't find it anywhere...unlucky girl!
