Why don't you be the writer

and decide the words i say?

Things are a little hectic here.

There simply isn't time for words.

So you can add your own to this random assortment of photographs.

Make your own story, plug your own blog, book, film.

It's Ellie Goulding

Shakira Shakira

Never really knew that she could dance like this, she make a man want to speak Spanish.

Absolutely nothing to do with the flowers in a marquee at The George or how beautiful the bride looked, or the amazing dedication of the MOB. I loved this wedding.

The Shakira part has to do with the hours before a wedding, when tables are laid, favours placed, candles lit, and florists jostle in between, and there is much banter between Boss and myself.

Boss is in charge of running your wedding day. He is brilliant. If you give him 2 waitresses with the same name Laura, he will rechristen one Shakira.

Makes sense now.

Weddings at The George are always fun. They would never sit back and watch you carry flowers down a mile long corridor, and through 6 heavy fire doors, when there is a perfectly good door right there in the function room, which for whatever reason can't be opened until the Bride and Groom arrive.

Unlike some.....

There is more of this wedding to come.

14.9.10

I believe in you.

It was Kylie this morning.

Every post tells a story.

Anyhow, these roses are roses and not ranunculus.
They are called Green Eye. Inspiring name.

The other ones are crespidia. J'adore crespidia. They are destined for a wedding. Don't worry not yours, your flowers are here too.

Also a deer has found it's way into the shop. He is currently stuck to the wall with floral tack. There is nothing that floral tack can't do.

The orange flowers are called Banksia. I made a mistake in the ordering, sometimes that happens.

Boys don't understand

The shoe thing.

They say things like

"They are just shoes"

"Does it matter?, just wear any pair"

"Why do you need another pair?"

11.9.10

And I'm glad so glad that I'm done with you

No more crying crying leaving me so black and blue
You backed me up against the wall but I stand tall
Don't give a damn no more
Baby bye bye
no more lies

If your ipod wakes you up with this song, you get out of bed.
Turn up the volume and dance.

This mornings discussion topics so far.
Monza
Photographing horses using film.
Warhol inspired weddings.
Yes i like 4 shots in my cappuccino.
No that picture of The Hound was not photoshopped, he really can do that. I can't do photoshop.
How do i return lots of glasses to The Tobie Norris without looking like an alcoholic?

I love my customers.

Drive like the wind Mr Lewis

Can you confirm you have understood this message?

So the Ferrari International Assistance has been out in force again.

I actually remembered to photograph the bridal bouquet. More to come.

That is what a snowberry looks like.

Losing the use of your left index finger makes life difficult, and painful.

It is a sign of good luck if it rains on your wedding day.

Are you coming to our little soiree? So far this autumn, i think the flowers are the best they have ever been, it is a joy. The chances of Mr Woodfired Oven and I getting through the evening without arguing are looking slim.

Faites vos jeux.

That's all.

9.9.10

Spot the odd one out

2 very different weddings this weekend.

I have ripped off half a fingernail, which is ridiculously painful, and is rendering my left hand pretty useless. My timing is as always impeccable.

I have also broken one of my favourite and most useful vases.

All in all today has not started that well.

But The Boy Wonder has been doing his best to make me laugh.

I have always been able to wiggle my nose a la Bewitched, I didn't know he could too.

Tell me your day is going so much better?

An invitation

Now you see what the stamp was for. Are you loving the font too? I am thinking about going into wedding invitations.

So we are holding a soiree, can you read the invite? No? Then with the power of cut and paste, i shall reproduce it here.

Miss Pickering, 7 St.Pauls Street, Stamford, PE9 2BE T 01780 482961

Come for the flowers, come for the food, or just come to see whether or not the proprietor of said wood oven and I can last a whole evening without arguing.

Such fun.

7.9.10

If i were getting married today

I would carry a bouquet of diadeem roses and wear this dress.

6.9.10

Like a circle in a spiral

Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever spinning reel

The new term has started, boarders arrived clutching a tuck box and their parents hopes and dreams. The wind is blowing, the crab apples are a bright orange, and suddenly it feels so very Autumnal.

1. Chinese Lanterns
2. Bramble vodka in the making
3. Stamping is cool again.

Did you have a good weekend?

2.9.10

To me you're strange and you're beautiful

Do you know that song?

It is a little bit creepy, but also quite lovely.

Sort of like Celosia, only i am still struggling with the lovely part.

It isn't a loathsome flower, but nor do they give me butterflies. Do you like them?

New look shop is taking shape, people are unsure. I will endeavour to take proper pictures tomorrow of work so far.

Newish rose Dark upper secret, what do we think?

Flowers for Country Living magazine's stand at Burghley, they look stiff, but a few hours in a warm marquee and they will be just the ticket.

1.9.10

This week, the answer to every question is

Burghley.

Why is there so much traffic in town?
Why are there so many people wearing those ridiculous duBarry boots?
Why are the shelves on Marks and Sparks bereft of all food?

Also somebody has been fiddling with my chalkboard again. I wasn't really sure what rubbing out various letters meant but after the last time....I wasn't taking any chances.

Also later in the week i will tell you of some soirees we will be hosting.

Expect fireworks.

31.8.10

I think I'm falling for you

Last week I had a telephone call from a journalist.

"What is your inspiration for Fall/Winter?" said she
"Fall? This is England darling, Autumn if you will" said I.

I didn't say that, but that's what i was thinking.

I hate that sort of question, it is impossible to answer without sounding pretentious, I am a florist, I'm not vying for an inclusion in Saatchi's living room.

I mumbled something about aubergine and sage, being Autumnal just as much as oranges and browns, about food and colour and other such things.

I sounded pretentious.

It's Colbie Caillat , figs later roasted with gorgonzola, a jacket, Kentish Cobnuts, and The Mother Hen's Blackcurrant Jam.

Victoria Plum and Spa Chicken

1.The Victoria plums were crumbled with butter and cinnamon.
2.New pictures on the Great Wall of Inspiration. Sailing boats meet African safari lodges meet shooting chic.
3.Spa chicken*, so called because you can eat it with just a fork, allowing the other hand to wildly gesticulate at the television whilst watching the Grand Prix. Mr Hamilton won. It was quite a race, there was a lot of shouting, my lunch guests joined in despite being rugby people xxx
4.The Hound doing what he does best

*Fill a roasting tin with fennel, red pepper, red onion, sage, a lot of garlic, a whole lemon pricked, and chunks of stale crusty bread. Place chicken on top, roast for allotted time, serve hot, crunchy garlicky croutons, vegetables and chicken all in one pot. Useful as a salad topping too, if you can wait for it to cool. Make 37 times more croutons than you think you will need.

27.8.10

You've been acting all tough lately

smoking a lot of cigarettes lately
But inside you're just a little baby.
It's ok to say you've got a weak spot
you don't always have to be on top.

It's not grey today, my mood is greatly improved and i feel more like this

43 years later and the shop remodel is really not much further on.

I made some "transient wallpaper"
tied tags onto jars
and the table and flowers are reunited
and some flowers.

Happy Bank Holiday, do you have plans?

I'm not a robot.
