She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge

Pulp. Full of memories, back on the King's Road, halcyon days.

Growing wild in the garden at the shop.

Kay spotted that the shoot we did for The Telegraph Royal Wedding feature has popped up in English Home magazine.

Well done Kay, extra points and a badge to you.

Cherries for lunch and garden foliage in bouquets. Bronze fennel, viburnum opulus, honey suckle and hydrangea

Today i have also learnt that some people just want salal, and that banging your head against a brick wall is futile. Smile sweetly, roll your eyes discreetly and have another cherry.

also how does Greece actually leave the Euro? In actual practical terms how does it work?

Lilacs and buttercups

Actual Blue Peter badges. She actually has 5 Blue Peter badges

The petition to have Mrs Beard walk down the aisle to this starts now. Leave a comment.

Best piece of music ever. Nostalgia.com

The weekend was full of relaxed creative couples, somebody the other day said to me

"You're lucky, you get all the good brides"

I do.

We had a no on the toy horses, but a yes on the Enoki mushrooms.

and The Hound and I picked buttercups and lilac. not in a wearing a floral dress and a basket sort of a way, but in a i can barely breathe, i saw a cat! way.

and some changes were made to the shop, more on that and the Jubilee window later in the week.

The Jubilee window may be the best window we have ever embarked on.

Primadonna girl

Would you do anything for me?
Buy a big diamond ring for me?
Would you get down on your knees for me?
Pop that pretty question right now baby

Marina and the Diamonds

I don't know how other florists make bridal bouquets.

I think my approach is "organic"

Sometimes I start grouping before I've even conditioned , just to see what works.

Like writing in pencil before going over in ink.

Also the wonderful artist Anna she of The Hound cards, has made this video. I love seeing other peoples' work spaces, and there are hounds....

Not to be outdone, The Boy Wonder wants to remind you of his video performance.

Have a marvellous weekend, and to our comrades in the rest of the world where it is Mothering Sunday.

Good luck, you can do it, drink coffee, and water, and thanks for sending this weeks flower prices rocketing.

xx

If you want to kiss the sky

U2

The shop is looking very "dustbowl" today. The Hound is wearing braces.

Which is a little odds with the sound of bagpipes coming from outside.

I can't see the person playing them, but i hope whomever it is stops soon.

Whilst we ponder how Mrs Beard has 5 Blue Peter badges, could you also ponder on what one might wear, were one being photographed for a magazine again?

and also your hay fever cures, steroids and I have broken up. It wasn't amicable, we aren't staying friends.

In exchange for the information i can tell you

Coral charm

and if you are British could you stop using y'all, and figure? Whilst it is perfectly charming from the lips of Les Americans, it isn't in others.

I realise i now sound like one of those old ladies that used to write to Miss Bland.

Girls were seen talking to boys in the High Street

I am off to throttle the bagpipe player.

The sun always shines on tv

A-HA

Once upon a time The Other Miss Pickering sent away for an A-HA t-shirt. It was in the days pre-internets, when you had to wait 28 days for delivery. By the time she got the t-shirt she had moved on to Bros. Grolsch bottle tops and all.

This has nothing to do with the wedding, it's just a little bit of trivia. I'm all about the trivia

This was the wedding of Lucy and Matt, uber creative couple, and i mean couple, groom as involved as the bride. They did everything, from the place cards to burning wood signs. I'm sure there is a more technical term for burning wood?

Colour was the order of the day, peonies, sweet peas, clematis, roses, bluebells, and as usual, Uncle Tom Cobley.

and in other news, 2 new shops are opening around the corner. An ice cream cafe, and a 1950's inspired clothing shop.

I hope they do pistachio.

Expired film

of the Polaroid variety.

I have quite a few Polaroid cameras, one had some film in it.

Not very good film as it happens.

and like everything, it's not as easy as it looks.

Did you have a good Bank Holiday?

I worked, all of it. Weddings.

Are we ready to see weddings?

Apricots in honey

3000 bonus points for the person who guesses the correlation between post and title.

I spent the whole weekend throwing up. I left the house 3 times, once to install flowers in a monsoon, once to walk The Hound, and once to take The Hound to the vets having cut his paw on said walk.

and had conversations like this: " I'm dying, why haven't you brought me soup and presents?"

"You said you didn't want to see anybody"

"I didn't mean it"

"Women! I thought you were better than this"

"So did I"

For the last 2 weeks i have felt awful, maybe it's that cocktail of prescription and OTC medication?

Either way the blog has been a little lack lustre. Sorry. I'm fine now, that's the offical line, it's a bank holiday, there are weddings.....

The expression on The Hounds face is not one of concern, he's actually thinking stop crying over Robert Redford and get me some supper.

Meanwhile my waist is getting smaller, every cloud.

Tell me you had better weekends, if you didn't, just make it up.

The joys of being a florist number 573

Sometimes people can be patronising.

and by people, i mean men of a certain age.

Being a florist, you get patronised quite a bit.

Yesterday was a corker. I actually wanted to smack him in the mouth. Really hard. Like in the movies.

I didn't. Obvs.

It made me wonder, is it me? Do other florists get it too?

Is that why some people call themselves floral designers/ floral stylists or "floral artists"?

Are people embarrassed to be classed as a florist?

I'm not.

Said man wasn't a customer, he actually wanted me to do him a favour.

Probably won't.........

I will admit sometimes i play up to the stereo type and then surprise them later by winning an argument over Middle Eastern politics.

Purple rain

This post is brought to you by the drugs, Ventolin, Clarityn, Diclofenac, and Ibuprofen and caffeine.

It's contra-indication central

I wouldn't pass an Olympic drugs test, but i'm getting a lot done, just as well given how busy it is.

and i am wearing a size smaller jeans. Send cake, or maybe don't.

As Jimmy would say it's a win win situation.

also Prince

Hopefully normal service will resume soon.
