Chocolate mousse - never fails! 4oz of plain chocolate per person (Bournville is good)and 1 egg per person. Melt the chocolate, but do not scald/burn! While the chocolate is melting, seperate the eggs. Beat the yolks into the melted chocolate. Whisk the whites into firm peaks. Fold in the whites to the chocolate bit by bit. When the whites are completely folded in, pour the chocolate liquid into container of choice and place in the fridge to set for at least 2 hours. Serve.
Alternatively, you could do Lemon Syllabub - that's just cream, white wine, sugar and lemons. Delia's Squidgey Chocolate Log is gluten free as well.
My only successful gluten free baking has been with this chocolate cake.
